About us

We're a family run business based in Matlock, Derbyshire.  We've had dogs all our lives (most of them rescues) and after starting out with the usual mainstream brands have learnt, over the years, that nutrition for dogs matters, both for their health and to enrich their lives.

Between us we have 5 dogs, and combined we've had our canine companions for over 100 years, so we've had a lot of experience!  

We're passionate about natural products and getting the best quality ingredients possible, that's why we carefully source everything we list on the website - if our own dogs don't love it, why should we expect yours to?  That doesn't mean treats can't be fun; we've sourced loads of great biscuits and baked treats, with and without meat, and we're proud of being 100% grain free across our own-brand range.  We do stock some wheat containing treats that we can't resist due to their overall nutritional profile (BrewBix - we're looking at you) as moderation and variety is key.

We want Canine Companion to be a transparent, honestly labelled and a seamless shopping experience, we will always list ingredients and be upfront about multi-protein treats.  We will never sell rawhide or anything with unnecessary fillers.
